William A. Compton

William A. Compton , 73, of 484 River Road, Weedville, died on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Penn Highlands Elk following a brief illness.

He was born on June 2, 1947, in Indiana, Pa, a son of the late William and Mary Compton.

The Compton family moved from Indiana to Bennetts Valley in 1959.  Bill lived there the rest of his life, having graduated from Bennetts Valley High School in 1966.  Bill worked for the Department of Forest and Waters for two seasons.  He then went on to work for more than 35 years at Osram Sylvania, retiring as an equipment maintenance foreman in 2000.  He was a lifelong member of the Weedville United Methodist Church, where he held several offices and was a Lay Speaker.  Through the years, Bill authored a coumn titled " Time Goes By".  A photographer by hobby, Bill loved the Bennetts Valley area and loved to travel around the area, often remarking that it was the most wonderful place to live with the most wonderful folks.
Bill's favorite scripture was James 1:5-6, "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.  But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."

He is survived by one great-niece, Cherish Carr and her husband Corey of Danville, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister; Donna Mae Compton Taggart and by a niece, Mary Stewart on Nov. 11, 2020.

Funeral Services for William A. "Bill" Compton are being held privately with the family.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in  Indiana, Pa.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Weedville Methodist Church.
